A day off my “real” job…
As I’ve mentioned previously in my blog, I work at a Community Arts Center in Upstate New York. I never thought I would find myself in the “arts” but I maybe should've guessed since I am very creative (told to me by other people…not just me tooting my own horn lol). This week will be the last week that I work on a Saturday, so today I have off and have taken the day to work on a few new designs.
Design #1 is what I will be calling “Hang in there”. It is a reworked design from the original bat mandala which is currently hanging on the wall at my workplace. I scanned it and have been working on digitizing it for what seems like forever. This task is basically me redrawing the whole thing…more than once to get it just right to be made into stickers and t-shirts to be sold right here on my website. Well at least that’s the goal, it’s not like I have an actual customer base yet. I’m hoping for Instagram fame at some point. Until then my family and friends will have to step up and buy my products/artwork.
I think it’s almost done. I say that right now, but I know that I will open up my tablet and find 10 things that I have to fix before it’s ready. It goes back to my main question when I started drawing mandalas….when do you know when it’s done?
Design #2 is what I’ve lovingly nicknamed “The Crow”. I think that you can guess what the design is by the name. This piece I started drawing on my tablet…digitally, so I’m hoping that it doesn’t take me quite as much work to get it how I want it. The issue with this design is that I have a moto style jacket I would love to hand draw the design on. So, I’ll be doing the reverse of “Hang in there” and I’m not even sure the best way to accomplish that yet at all. I’m sure one night I will wake up at 3 am and it will have come to me in some way. I hope.
I’m hoping to have both of these designs completed before “Spooky season” since they both could be classified as “Halloweeny”. They are just regular designs in my head, but my house has skulls, crows, girls with no eyes and a cool dragon door knocker up all year round. I usually just call it a normal Wednesday.
If you’re reading this blog, thank you. I’m back to my “normal” job tomorrow. Have a great evening!!
